After Donald Trump's win in the 2016 Presidential Election, the town of Brookefield Heights, Michigan, is left divided
Kai Anderson (Evan Peters) rejoices at the victory, while Ally Mayfair Richards (Sarah Paulson) is left utterly distraught

Despite the help of her psychiatrist, Dr. Rudy Vincent (Cheyenne Jackson), Ally becomes increasingly unstable in the following weeks
Her long repressed phobias begin to re-emerge, and they begin to affect her relationships with wife, Ivy (Alison Pill), and son Oz (Cooper Dodson)

Ally and Ivy hire Winter Anderson (Billie Lourd) to work as a nanny and companion for Oz, not knowing that she is in fact the sister of the unhinged Kai, who seems to have targeted Ally
Interactions with other Brookefield Heights residents, including Trump-supporter Gary Longstreet (Chaz Bono), and new neighbours Harrison Wilton (Billy Eichner) and his wife, Meadow (Leslie Grossman) further heighten Ally's anxiety
And she begins to fear that everyone in her town is out to get her
